@ngaylinn@tech.lgbt and I'm still salty about how information technology was all about efficiency (computation, storage, energy, ...)... Then the JS bubble came along and every major website is now >200MB over 20 external caching providers with 1200 packages to determine whether a String is uppercase or lowercase. Now we are throwing a continent-sized amount of connected slot-machines, that mimic human behaviour they were trained on from Reddit, and whose world-model is just a distance function on everything, instead of finding an elegant and efficient solution... :(

    @helpsterTee Lol! So true. I hadn't made the link with JavaScript, but I totally agree. That was a big part of how this sort of bloat became normalized. Hardware became cheap, so software expanded, and now we're building data centers at an outrageous rate just to support this inefficient mess. Sigh.
