@deFractal I have actually ghostwritten a contemporary romance novel but I don't know if the client ever published it. I'd say I'm not the best at romance, unfortunately. One idea that lives in my head is a sapphic romance between a haematology researcher and a vampire as an homage to The Little Vampire, my favourite childhood series. But novel-length stuff takes a long time to write and with AI books flooding Amazon & other companies I'm not sure self-published books are still making money.

@AimeeMaroux Ah, too bad. I suppose these days authors in that market may need a pre-established loyal fandom, who buy because they know they’re not getting slop (and because of the parasocial relationship). Bit of a catch-22 for new entrants.
