My mom didn’t think I should buy a house. In 2009.
I would have been absolutely screwed by now if I’d listened to her advice.

I had the opposite. In 2007 my mom convinced me it’s conventional wisdom to buy as much house as you can afford, because historically it is one of the best investments you can make. Thankfully all I could afford at that time was a pretty cheap house…
