To me his post sounds like he is saying that Trump tariffs changed the economics of the solar panels such that a deal that was perhaps less likely to occur became more economical.
Like, nowhere in what he wrote even implied a lack of agency on the part of people in China or Pakistan. That sounds likes something you are projecting into the situation.

@johncormier@cosocial.ca Also, why did you find it necessary to insult him to his face? I'm pretty sure AP servers notify you when your post is quoted so you should have known he would see it. Regardless, what was the point of insulting him?

@virtuous_sloth@cosocial.ca Yep, I know that’s what Doctorow said. But intentionally or not, he framed it in a way that gives all of the credit to Trump for a business deal that occurred between two independent countries, neither of which he controls. It’s akin to the language of colonialism in that it denies the agency of the two non-white parties, who deserve more credit for entering into the agreement than just chalking it all up to the white guy.
