John Stevens provides a really good demonstration of brushed Roman capitals, showing how rotation of the brush is used to form serifs and blend curved strokes. His techniques follow quite closely those developed by Father Catich from his analysis of inscriptional lettering in Rome. Easily classified as either writing or painting, and not what I think most people think of as drawing.
