@b_cavello fun fact: Cornell was founded/funded through Ezra Cornell's patent that dug & laid telegraph cable.
For the organizational behavior part of the telegraph story, I strongly recommend JoAnne Yates's iconic book "Control through Communication" which explains why there was demand for the telegraph in the first place.
