I don&#39;t understand the popularity of teabags. Sure they&#39;re convenient if all you have is a paper cup and a presspot of barely-hot water but surely at home you can have a mug or even a teapot with a built in strainer. Then you can use looseleaf tea which is both better, cheaper, and available in greater variety. Twinings Irish Breakfast for instance is $85/kg. We pay $55/kg for better tea. Sure, you can buy Lipton for $22/kg but that&#39;s hardly tea.

Plus then you create less waste. Yes, many teabags are compostable these days (though you still need to watch out for staples on the cheap ones) but how often are they actually composted? And it's still more Stuff to grow and process and pack and ship. If you drink tea from bags do yourself a solid and buy a little mug sized strainer and some looseleaf. We like Halmari and Thurbo from Upton, for black teas.

@smolwaffle I'm using teabags because it's less exhausting than waiting for the tea and dealing with the strainer after, but: * I'm really exhausted most of the time * the teabags go in the compost so it's fine * I buy them in boxes of I think 500 so at least it's not as expensive as it could be
