To those who criticize the blind for relying on AI, I invite you to put yourself in our shoes for a moment. You open your web browser, visit your favorite web app, and you are presented with a blank screen. Magnify and multiply this event across every aspect of your daily life. Day after day, year after year, decade after decade, your needs are treated as secondary at best. After some time, you decide to speak up about your screen going blank. When you speak up, you are met with hostility and infantilism. All of a sudden, a service comes along that lets you snap pictures and figure out what's behind that blank screen. You piece together all the headings and lists and buttons and taskpanes and fillable forms. Then you start wondering how this accessibility machine could help you more. You start wondering if maybe you can get it to fix your favorite apps straight at the source code. After you've been treated like an afterthought for your entire life and suddenly presented with a magic accessibility machine, you might be tempted to use it to reduce the cognitive load of being blind. I fully support learning to code, learning a codebase, and implementing accessibility features that work for you, and I would also love to raze every data center until there is only ash left. To those with that level of energy and dedication, I salute you. For most of us, we're lucky to get our minds around a handful of projects at most, if at all. People should be free to make apps better for themselves, and people shouldn't have to do that just to obtain basic usability. I hate AI code. I think outsourcing anything even remotely creative to a machine that is run by billionaire nazis and is an existential threat to Humanity is one of the worst things that Humankind has ever done. Even so, when you're met with barrier after barrier after barrier after barrier after barrier and then admonished for daring to ask for better, you may turn to using that magic accessibility machine to help you do the things everybody else does. It's not fair that one group of people should have to learn c#, Javascript, HTML, CSS, multiple web dev frameworks, Python, C++, Rust, and a plethora of other languages just so that they can diagnose what exactly is happening when their screen reader goes blank button button button link clickable clickable javascript:void(0). The majority of people do not need to climb a cognitive mountain in order to use a social media app. They just do it. Why isn't that how it works for every user? The problem is not the blind using the accessibility machine to make their world more accessible. The problem is that the accessibility machine is run by billionaire nazis who are an existential threat to Humankind. You want to be angry? Be angry at Sam Altman and the epstein class for forcing us into this situation and maybe listen to your disabled users instead of telling them that they shouldn't use the thing that helps them make stuff accessible
