So look, Marx wrote about this, and in all my years studying history I have never found this analysis to be wrong: the goal of the capitalist is NOT to sell you a product. That's penny-ante shit. No matter what they say about the market deciding or competition that's not what they want - they build monopolies for a reason, they buy governments for a reason and it's not to ensure a fair competitive environment for all investors and producers lemme assure you.
