What is this Hunt for Gollum bollocks I am reading about? Is there a serious expectation that people will voluntarily watch it?

@IanMoore3000@mastodon.ie Only explanation I can think of is that they're doing screen versions of bits of the Legendarium that no one really thought required a film in order to pressure the rights' holders into letting them do the Silmarillion?? "Let us do Beren and Luthien or we'll do 'Boromir journeys from Gondor to Rivendell' and next year we'll do 'Farmer Maggot takes his mushrooms to market' and we won't stop until we get what we want"
