IMHO this is where distributions cover our asses, for most of us. All software we use can be run on that, and developers can typicly handle using latest vetsion included in Ubuntu as dependency. 1/2

@Di4na 2/2 The libs not offered by distro, you need to manage yourself (have enough own that contribute and support upstreams). We prefer using ubunto as base for all docker images too, for same reason. If you then want guarantees, buy Ubuntu licenses, and other ways to ensure whats not part of Ubuntu, and Ubuntu should takr care of most
