@benroyce @woodenmachines @grammargirl I have always been wondering. When I was a kid we raised turkeys every now and then, and they seemed quite stupid. But people said their wild cousins were way smarter?
Dying from a cold when rained upon, but not understanding shelter or roof. Being ok with tiny chicks that were born before they arrived in the coop, but killing everything new, big or small. And it was quite easy to catch them, unlike our barbary ducks.

@Klara @woodenmachines @grammargirl Anything heavily domesticated will tend to lose its self-protection instincts. We had a persian cat growing up and i had to midwife it (after calling my mom and freaking out about what to do) because it would just stare at its own kittens in the amniotic sacs (while a regular cat knows to eat the sacs)
