@feld Hiding the damage and then pretending that we, as buyers, are not responsible for the ills of production is one of the essential dirty tricks of consumerism. But we all participate in this and when we literally buy into it, we are supporting it in a small but real way. It's uncomfortable and sometimes upsetting but there's no getting away from it.
