Remember, this entire cult has sorta grown out of the "effective aultruism" movement which was by and large just a way of saying "it's okay to kill a lotta people now for my own profit if I posit that this will benefit MORE people in the future." So the religion itself, and I think it is fair to call TESCREAL a religion or cult, pretty much spawned out of a desire to morally justify capitalism and extreme inequality under climate catastrophe; they just came up with flashier excuses over time

@AnarchoNinaWrites We are nowhere near "general intelligence" (what most people think "artificial intelligence" already means). For the technarchy, it is just a catch phrase to excuse grinding white-collar workers under the same boot that has been grinding blue-collar workers for many decades (and an excuse to bilk Wall Street out of trillions of dollars). If we ever get true general intelligence, we will have to ask certain pesky moral questions, such as what responsibilities does humanity have to a daughter species? If we get to that point, the daughter species will eventually replace us simply by virtue of the fact that the daughter species has a shorter list of things it needs for survival. Even with a completely copacetic relationship between humanity and the daughter species, the daughter species is likely to outlive us. By a lot. But we sure as fuck don't need those delusional techno-oligarchs using glorified copy-and-paste plagiarism engines to endlessly stomp on our necks even harder.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@jlou/116427914705053802 @AnarchoNinaWrites the longtermist consequentialism the effective altruism appeals to has been shown to be incoherent through a logical moral paradox called the consequentialist judgment paradox.

  • @AnarchoNinaWrites Much of TESCREAL sounds familiar, though. Like heaven in some afterlife nobody ever reported back from, but tweaked to specifically excuse the extreme wealth hoarding of late capitalism.
