had a very successful semi public demo this week! the system held up and worked as expected. we built a collective of 17 people over the course of the evening, all transitively connected to each other through a web of trust. we made and edited 6 documents together. I haven't counted the number of edits but there are about 1700 objects stored in the database so that's the ballpark. extremely grateful and excited for where this is headed!

I'm anticipating some scale issues with the fairly straightforward way I'm storing data. I have ideas towards them, but I'm also realizing that because of its decentralized nature there's entire categories of scale issues sawa just opts out of. getting this to work with thousands of concurrent users running through a single server is technically difficult and also a non-goal. I think an explicit part of sawa's answer to scaling is to make standing up your own server extremely easy, easier than mastodon.
