Like I’m sure Ayn Rand and her followers were/are making some kind of grand point, but I’m sure they would have sucked to hang around at parties.

And it turns out that others like to help too. It’s difficult when you’re in an isolated situation to realize that. It can (unfortunately, often) take some time to build the necessary relationships with people, which is also super scary because a lot of people suck. But the good people make the risk of hurt worth it.
