@dielan @nsoddity for disclosure i've not tried delta chat cuz i do not know anyone who uses it nor is interested in trying, but from what i've seen it ought to be as easy as installing the app and registering an account in a public instance, accounts do confirmation by email only as that is the technology the whole thing is built upon. will install deltachat later to check it out
