is it even still worth it to have a website these days? just seems hollow now

  • @joshavanier It's worth it to have a notebook. Maybe not a website, unless you get kicks out of sharing with others and participating in group publishing. Do it because you want to, not because of any notion of worth. :)

    @joshavanier it depends, I find it's definitely worth it, not just for my own benefit as a commonplace book, Rek and I get weekly emails from folks who found something obscure they were looking for on one of our websites and are grateful for us documenting this or that. Maybe your interests have shifted too, I find so much joy looking at people's websites. Somehow, against all odds, from where I'm standing, I think I know more people today with daily/weekly updated websites than I did 10 years ago..

    @joshavanier Do you see a personal website primarily as something to broadcast to others or as something you regularly use for your own sake? I feel like a personal website only makes sense for selfish reasons, in the sense of it being a tool for you.
