@ives @mhoye Old tapes maybe. But current tape solutions can store literal petabytes on a single tape. Modern SD cards aren't nearly that data intense. I stand by my previous statement.

@ErgonWolf @ives @mhoye an LTO-9 tape stores 18 TB in a ~100x100x20 cartridge, so about 0.09 GB/mm^2. A microSD card can store 1TB and is 11x15x1, for a capacity of 6 GB/mm^2. Magnetic tape is extremely cost efficient and durable but for sheer storage density microSD cards are very hard to beat.
