@jine well, instance-insides were not really visible publicly. in fact we're pretty much drama-free, but from time to time something happens.
no, unfortunately, the whole instance itself cannot be migrated from one software to another just like that.
it would be possible however to migrate to one of mastodon's forks (glitch or hometown), but it's far from trivial and it would mean our own sysadmin work further on (which i'm avoiding by asking masto.host to host us)

@jine here are the two forks i'm mentioning: Mastodon Glitch Edition https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/ (maintained by ClearlyClaire, who works for Mastodon now for few years) Hometown https://github.com/hometown-fork/hometown/blob/hometown-dev/README.md they both support local-only posts. max-length for posts are configurable via commandline access, which one gets with self-hosting, so webUI for admin is then unnecessary.
