@Mepurfield Apparently there is a lot of research into the mia hypothesis: that inflammatory processes in the motherof a child during pregnancy can highten chances on #autism.
This study sums up the evidenin 2025
Maternal Immune Activation and Autism Spectrum Disorder: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0006322324017608
Conclusions and Future Directions
In some maternal conditions associated with inflammation—infections, autoimmunity, and high BMI—we have noted a general pattern in the literature in which studies across populations have described associations between these exposures during pregnancy and children’s later likelihood of autism. As more rigorous methods have been incorporated and results have been triangulated (145,146) across approaches, we have seen substantial evidence that the relationship between maternal infections during pregnancy, elevated maternal BMI, and most maternal autoimmune conditions are likely confounded to some degree by shared familial factors
So the evidence is not conclusive or false.

@hanscees @Mepurfield . unless they've proved that Autistics are causing global warming and world wars, I DGAF what "causes Autism," and science has more important things to do than this shit
