@miss_rodent yeah a lot of projects don't seem to put much thought into this.
But we have contributions from Sun Microsystems which technically means that it's oracle code now, so if we wanted to change the license or grant an exception to here's the ones we need to ask.
Likewise we have Novell as a contributor too and it's less clear on who could speak for them.
In these cases a CLA would be a better option but we can't undo the past but we can avoid making it worse by not allowing llms.

@miss_rodent also to be a bit more clear on the legal identity thing... We don't want or need your government approved name for many reasons including your privacy. But we do need a way to uniquely identify you which internet pseudonyms are more than adequate for. As mentioned previously, the defunct contributors means it's unlikely that we'll change/grant an exception to a license, we still don't want to completely rule it out as a potential possibility it we decide to attempt it.
