@gwcoffey it's good to have that smell and it's good to ask the right question like @maya_b instead of falling for that bait.
but isn't it mean? and: the faschist techbros are preaching that empathy is bad, is weakness. I don't know if the side effect that being more cynical becomes healthy is intended, but this is part of making the world a worse place.

@Odradek Oh yes I hear you. Something I struggle with a lot. And in my 1-1 human interactions I generally think it is better to trust, and be taken advantage of not and again, than to foster a local community of distrust. I'm a lot more cynical online because the scale is so out of balance. Just a few bad actors can put out SO MUCH STUFF that I worry you run the risk of burning out your empathy on things that don't deserve it, in ways that actually make the world worse.
