@abr @robin @Edent: without giving the conspiracy theories here more oxygen, I'll only say that you should watch what Chromium (overall) has done. TAG in ship process, public intents, public feedback requirements in Blink Launch process, and more developer-friendly engagement via CG incubation....and didn't move anything but maintenance to WHATWG (where it was already happening)
The conspiracies need to reckon with that sort of restraint and promotion of developers/users over WG groupthink.

@abr @robin @Edent: so if the argument is "Google doesn't want anyone but browser vendors to have a say", you have to make an argument about why of those self-modulating process improvements that center non-browser-vendors (quite explicitly) don't count.
