@Edent So, I 100% agree with you that both Google and browser-centricity are serious problems that we need to solve; however that doesn't mean that everything that goes wrong is Google's fault :) In this case, having been on the inside, I don't think it is. It took a lot of mistakes to get us to this point. Happy to colour in details, but I'd need to start drinking…

@Edent @robin consider the source, of course, but this is ludicrous on several levels: 1.) Google doesn't plan that well. For anything. Ever. See Stadia. As standards TL, I could barely keep Googler-on-Googler fights from stalling all work in certain WGs 2.) "say in the future of the web" is a question about market structure in a world of voluntary standards; not decided inside standards orgs, never could be 3.) folks get angry when you point out #2, but it doesn't change reality
