another thing that's really frustrating about the whole social media restrictions thing is the idea that somehow all of the legitimately harmful dynamics of social platforms stop existing once you hit a certain age.
Like no, sorry, we aren't gonna make idk, facebook not do stuff like semi-deliberately give people eating disorders. That's unimaginable. Best we can do is make sure they can only ruin the lives of people older than 16 👍 👍

There's this pattern which II first noticed in regards to sex workers where a group of people is affected by literally the exact same issues and injustices as everyone else but something about their nature makes the injustice so obvious that it punches right through the mental shield that protects everyone from seeing the inhumanity of society. And rather than accept that inhumanity, people respond to that by lashing out at those people for making them feel bad about their world.
