The article I’m still waiting for someone to write is about how dog owners receive what amounts to public subsidies for the care and keeping of their particular pet (by taking their dogs into public spaces but especially dog parks subsidized with public money) but there is no similar kind of subsidies for other forms of pet ownership. https://www.curbed.com/article/dogs-public-places-new-york-city.html?utm_source=nymag_app_article_share

I am not generally a dog person but the people I am interested in dating frequently have dogs so I try to be open and honest about my dog comfort levels. But it’s also very clear to me as a non-dog person the differences between dog owners who understand and respect the needs of non-dog people and those who have total disregard for where their dogs fit into the social contract. Dog ownership is a very distinct and public form of pet ownership, and people should recognize it as such
