@cockneylaurie He admires Charles, though. Not as much as he admires Putin, of course. But a sign of disapproval from the king would have an effect on him--how much of one, I don't know. Maybe they could phrase it as "Let's postpone the trip until conditions are a little less unpleasant, not a good look right at the moment, you understand" or something like that. That way, having the trip still be a possibility might make trump want to improve the situation. The pomp and circumstance of the State visit is important to trump's ego. They should call up rump's psychologist niece Mary, who analyzes him all the time, and ask her advice on how to handle him.
