That the research proves these artefacts and cave paintings deliberately encode or represent information is wonderful, but it's a premise that researchers have been working with for years now. We have objects with likely tally marks, for example, so the next step up is just logical. (3/12)

Suddenly it's framed as "protocuneiform", which is accurate in terminology, but it also automatically makes people build a connection to protocuneiform from Mesopotamia, and allows them to claim "Europeans were first!", without considering the possibility that something similar could’ve also been developed even earlier. I'm thinking of the far older cave paintings in Indonesia for example, and that was not even Homo Sapiens. Oh the possibilities that could open up! (4/12)
