#Avgeek #trivia that I learned after moving to #Portland: some large US airports with IATA codes ending in "X" took their name from 2-letter weather office codes of the time and filled in the blank with an "X". This includes PDX near me, and also bigger airports LAX and PHX. #aviation #travel #history
