Also, not being on the same server as you is going to be a complete pain. It turns out it DOES help to join the one where your friends are...

@cathygellis lists cannot be. and honestly, once you get going, it does not matter if you're on the same server or not. most people i'm interacting with are on different servers. i haven't had any issues at all with people on other servers
