I have seen something very similar.
I wonder what percentage of companies have a perpetual rewrite of the core product going at more or less all times, each attempt either never going live or immediately needing a rewrite if it does?

@inthehands I could tell stories about one core product that had three rewrites. None of which managed to eclipse the original product so the company had to support four separate streams of the same product.
