One annoying thing about the Fediverse is the federation. Really. When I want to search for a Mastodon post I read last week, you can be sure that I mostly will find mile long wordpress blog posts that contain those words. I want a way to select only things posted on Mastodon. Only I don&#39;t know if it was posted on Mastodon, it could be another implementation of AP. Long story short, i hate searching the Fediverse. I never find what I want. #Fediverse #Mastodon #Search #Rant

@worldwidewerner my solution is to copy all the stuff I really like into a folder on my computer’s hard disk. I’ve been doing it for things I read on the Internet too, lately, since search engines are all really bad at searching now.

@worldwidewerner I’m not entirely sure I understand how Search works on Mastodon. When I search, am I only searching accounts I follow or are federated instances included? Are the results from my Local feed or the Federated feed? Then again, I’m searching via a 3rd party app, so maybe I’m doing it all wrong. But I can never find anything either when I search
