Christian Griepenkerl was born into an Ashkenazi Jewish family.
He was a Judeo-German painter and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
Griepenkerl is perhaps best known for rejecting Adolf Hitler's application to the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 1907
