@swift the hill I'm gonna die on is that "jpop" isn't really a thing except for very specific stuff but then gets expanded to encompass anything that "sounds Japanese", kinda like "JRPG"

@hazelnot yeah, it wouldn't be my go-to, but to my ears it's the unique vibe of pop you get that's influenced by the Japanese flavour of 70s jazz fusion (the same influence that classic "video game music" is imitating within hardware constraints), hence the comment. My brain's actual internal categorisation is "rhythm game music" 😂
