@jaranta I just received a 20 page research proposal from a global south student, which is almost certainly slop, and I don't know how to respond very effectively. Candidates apply with their own research projects rather than work for a PI and so reach out to supervisors before submitting applications to get a 'fit check' and yes, in this case that's there but I don't know how to say "hey I think this is likely a massive waste of my time + have some self respect" without being a huge asshole...
