A supplier for background art violated Studio WIT’s official rules by using generative AI without permission.
The reason is outsourcing, which is widely used throughout the anime industry. That is why the lack of quality control is the scandal.
It’s similar to the AI subtitles on Crunchyroll, which also outsource a great deal. That’s how it slipped through.

@rommudoh So the discussion really had to focus on systemic issues, such as pay and working hours in the industry. From studios struggling to make ends meet, to freelancers, manga artists... The cost pressure is enormous. These problems have existed for decades.
