But then "merging" that draft loses all those comments. Is there a useful role to comments in the completed document? Should "marginalia in the finished document" be considered desirable?
Related, but not identical: How do you work with something like Upwelling on a collection of linked documents, like a wiki or a man page

@trochee one of the really nice things about using Automerge/Peritext here is that the comments aren't necessarily lost on merge, and thanks to arbitrary metadata, could be preserved with varying visibility tags (e.g. "documentation" vs "change-specific discussion")! The wiki question looms large! So many thoughts, so few characters. I'm sure @pvh has thoughts, as do @gordon and @cdata. 👀
