My dad’s dumbass MAGA girlfriend is a nurse. When that thing passed that declared nursing to no longer be a “professional” occupation, she was sad. She said “I’m not a professional anymore”. She did not say “this makes no sense, my specialized knowledge absolutely indicates that my career path is that of a professional”. It was a soul-crushing example of the destructive thought patterns that the alt-right preys on. A blind respect for authority, even when the decisions made are harmful and illogical.
