@AmyZenunim a thing we noticed with Adventure Time is that a significant portion of the fanbase is actively hostile to the idea that it has themes (because those themes are incompatible with the misogynist manifestos the alleged fans are quite loud about)
and treats it solely as an exercise in collecting lore factoids
and
the writing is, uh, aware of this and actively manipulates these people into learning something anyway, which is pretty impressive
