Their recommendation usually starts with a disclaimer, and ends with "But it's worth it, cause you can easily clone your machine". For me, one look at https://nixos.org/manual/nixos/stable/#ch-configuration and https://nixos.org/manual/nixos/stable/options is enough to know it's way too much hassle for me. I'll stick with Slackware.
