I still think age signals from operating systems and browsers to websites and apps _without any verification_ could make some sense. Parents could configure the devices of their children to tell their age and website providers could be forced to establish appropriate protections based on that. Yeah, as as soon as the children are proficient enough, they can circumvent that, but that would be okayish enough to me. This would be more about younger children and about not demanding that parents monitor their online activities continuously.
