@vektorgarten I don’t use Illustrator for any type design — not enough control over handle selection and behavior — but I use it a lot for diagrams and illustrations. I just have the logic of compound paths and the Pathfinder tool too deeply ingrained. The Pathfinder often feels like a cheat, even after all these years.

@vektorgarten Granted, my reflexes to avoid efficiency tools like the Shapebuilder probably come from spending so much time in font editors, which favor precision handling of contours and path directions over ease of use.
