@Rich @sapphireangel The problem here is that people love to run with what others have told them and don't bother to educate themselves. This view that Opensource is bad is very old and @NVAccess gave many examples of opensource software used in the medical field, so it is literally this myth that's being towed along by people that have nothing to do with the IT sector but are still in charge of making and enforcing policies.

    @GamingWithEars @sapphireangel To be clear, open source is not 100% safe. But, having multiple people and groups who are able to sit down and sey "hey, fix X Y and Z" means that it's "less likely" for malicious actors to do things. Now if you're getting your downloads from shady sources, I can understand exactly why people could say open source is bad. The way to fix that is download from the dev's official website, and any modified versions or add-ons if such a thing exists for the app in question come from trusted sources.
