Well, sometimes people are searching for the right word substitution, which can be hard and still convey the concept correctly. The same problem explains why we anthropomorphized computers and OSes in the first place. Still, I get what you and @Thad are saying.

@dangoodin @Thad Maybe I was too quick to judge casual anthropomorphisms. But I am frequently annoyed by the same kind of responsibility-washing with computers in general. “The computer decided to…” No, a programmer or a manager or some human decided to, they just aren’t present for the throttling they deserve.
