Many marginalised groups need that and find great benefit it in but are also often victims of attacks from individuals or particular instances. Why should they not be able to have a safe space? You can have your debates, they can have safe spaces & neither needs to impact the other

I mean, I do not share the strict moderation policies of, say, Masto.art, but I can understand and empathize with their perspective, and I accept their right to do so. The same goes for any individual instance. The same goes for any individual _user_. No one else gets to say whom they should or should not block than them.
