Bill C-9 sets out to address the very real threat of hate and hate crimes in Canada. But striking the balance between protecting our safety and protecting of civil liberties isn’t easy. I dig into some messy questions and painful histories here. https://youtube.com/watch?v=mtaZjAmQZxE&si=vGRpVw3B3rgxNzMY #cdnpoli #Alberta

@Paulatics@mstdn.ca IMO, individual rights to freedom of religion do not sanction the use of religion to justify the marginalization of minority groups. Exemptions for "sincerely held religious belief" have become the shield behind which hate hides. Alberta in particular has its own little cadre of "street preachers" who use "faith" to justify some of the most violent hate-filled acts I have seen in my lifetime.

@Paulatics@mstdn.ca Should be addressing what Parliamentarians have done, in some cases knowingly, to Canadians with immunopsychiatric problems during the past three or four decades.
