now, lets format a table of contents. You might think from previous experience its right next to the mail merge wizard or in the style pane, but no! you got to insert the TOC, then right click and format this. Theres no TOC style preset load/save, which is STUPID. Now, after mapping my heading paragraph styles to TOC heading levels, I go on to again assigning entry paragraph styles to my TOC heading levels with a mideval UX. You then have to fight this dialogue to format your entry structure

ahh, i hear you want to know what you are doing and use the little preview box? great Well, contrary to what you might expect, it does not preview your TOC entry structure and formatting, it previews some unrelated shit I cant yet make sense of! also, its not documented in the help button right next to it
