there are SO MANY severe bugs and SO MUCH unnecessary user-hostile friction — at every step in that whole process — it's very difficult for me to believe that a company of Apple's size is unaware of at least some of those issues. but it seems equally difficult to believe that Apple is aware of the issues and deployed these buggy security flows anyway. it seems like it should be impossible for any critical system within apple ever get deployed with so many problems.
