We should all know at this point that you should not be bringing your cellphone to a protest. In the 915 mHz band there is something called Meshtastic. It is a mesh text messaging system that can be encrypted. You will need dedicated hardware that doesn't require a phone (I am most interested in the LilyGo Tdeck https://lilygo.cc/products/t-deck-meshtastic).
